REQUIRED COMPETITIONS
Interview (40% of total score)
The Interview competition is a great time to let the judges know just why they should pick you as the next Virginia state queen. Our judges are warm and friendly and are ready to have a conversation with each contestant. The judges just want to get to know who you are. The interview is a panel style standing in front of all the judges. Contestants in the Junior High, High School, and Collegiate divisions will have a 5 minute interview. Pre-K thru 2nd grade is 2 minutes, 3rd-5th grade is 3 minutes. Contestants should wear a nice outfit for this competition.

FUN FASHION Runway (20% of overall score)
Each contestant will model an outfit of her own choosing. It must be age appropriate, and it should portray the contestant’s personal sense of style and fashion. It can be as simple (without bling) or ornate (blinged out), as you would like. Choose an outfit that you would wear to a Hollywood Premier or Red Carpet Event. Fit is important.

EVENING GOWN (40% of overall score)
All delegates must wear a floor length gown that is age appropriate for the formal wear/evening gown competition. Contestants are judged on grace, poise, fit, and overall presentation.
Contestants in the Elementary divisions as well as the Junior High division must wear a gown that flares out at the waist (ex. Ballgown). Contestants in the High School division may have a slit below the knee. Contestants in the Collegiate division may have a slit above the knee while still remaining in good taste.

PROGRAM STANDARDS: Elementary contestants are not allowed to wear makeup during interview competition. Only lip gloss will be permitted. Elementary contestants are allowed to wear natural makeup under the harsh lights during stage competitions. Hair styling and make-up when allowed should be age appropriate. Junior High, High School, and Collegiate contestants should consider natural makeup for interview competition and appropriate makeup for all other competitions.
